Step 3 - Submitting the Application

Before submitting your application, be sure to make a copy of your entire application to keep for your own records just in case the original gets misplaced, or so you have a reference point if the VA has any questions. Should you have any conversations or correspondence with the VA, be sure to keep records of this as well. It can never hurt to be safe.

To submit your application, either mail or take your materials to the closest VA office. You can find the address in your local telephone book, or at the VBA website here.

If mailing your application, it is highly recommended that you send with a Registered Return Receipt to help avoid the potential of the VA stating that the application was not received.
